When it comes to treating wrinkles, there isn’t one solution that works for everyone. BOTOX® is a household name for smoothing out crow’s feet and frown lines, while Dysport® is its lesser-known but equally effective cousin. Just like BOTOX Cosmetic, Dysport helps improve the look of moderate to severe lines caused by repeated muscle movements.
At Pacifica Medical Spa in Studio City, Camarillo and Santa Barbara, we strive to keep our clients informed about their options for aesthetic treatments. That’s why we offer a wide range of products to tackle various aesthetic concerns, helping you make the best decision for your needs.
How Does Dysport Work?
Dysport is comprised of a protein called botulinum toxin, a naturally occurring molecule that works as a temporary muscle relaxant. When injected into specific muscles of the face, Dysport prevents these muscles from contracting with your facial expressions. The result is a decrease in facial wrinkles caused by repetitive muscle movements.
Dysport is very similar to BOTOX and either product can be used to effectively treat or prevent wrinkles. Due to a difference in molecule size, Dysport may have a slightly quicker onset than BOTOX and may diffuse slightly more around the treated area.
Natural-looking. Fast-acting. Long-lasting.

Before Your Dysport Treatment
Before getting Dysport injections, you’ll have a private consultation with one of our Aesthetic Nurses. During your consultation, you can talk about your appearance goals & learn more about what to expect from Dysport. We will also explain more about the differences between BOTOX and Dysport so you can make an informed decision about the best option for you.
It’s very common for both men and women to combine Dysport treatments with injectable fillers like JUVÉDERM® and Restylane®. Ask us about the differences between dermal fillers and which product(s) might be best for treating your wrinkles.
Your Dysport Procedure
As one of our “lunchtime treatments,” Dysport is easy to fit into your schedule and doesn’t require any downtime. The treatment itself can be as quick as 15 to 20 minutes. Your Aesthetic Nurse will determine the exact areas to be injected. The injections should feel like a pinprick, and typically no anesthetic is necessary. Once your injections are complete, you can simply walk out the door!
Recovery & Results
While Dysport doesn’t require any downtime, you might have some pinkness, swelling or bruising following your treatment. These effects should fade within a few days, but you can always cover them up with makeup if you’re heading straight to an appointment or meeting.
You should notice your results developing over the following 2 to 5 days. Your wrinkles, whether beside the eyes, between the brows or on the forehead, should gradually smooth out. Most people get touch-up treatments every 3 to 4 months.
