The Coolsculpting Procedure

Although CoolSculpting is not intended as a weight loss tool, it can help address stubborn, unwanted fat. CoolSculpting has been FDA-cleared for the treatment of visible fat bulges just about anywhere on the body

    Including:
  • Under the chin and jawline areas
  • Thighs
  • Upper arms
  • Back
  • Abdomen and flank
  • Along with bra ling
  • Underneath the buttocks

CoolSculpting uses a cooling technique known as cryolipolysis to non-invasively freeze and remove fat cells. As the fat cells shrink and die, they are naturally metabolized by your body for 2 to 3 months after treatment. During that time, you should continue to see positive changes to your treated area.

CoolSculpting is a convenient outpatient procedure that requires no anesthesia or downtime. Unlike many fat reduction procedures, CoolSculpting does not cause interruptions in your daily routine.

During the procedure, you may initially experience some pulling and tugging at the treatment site. However, as the CoolSculpting device continues to cool the area, you should feel relatively numb soon after. Depending on the size of the area being treated, your CoolSculpting treatment can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour to complete.

After your treatment, the results will last for a long duration of time, as long as you keep up a healthy lifestyle. Depending on your specific goals, you may benefit from multiple treatments, which can be discussed during your initial consultation.

CoolSculpting Recovery

While there are no inherent risks with CoolSculpting, you may experience some temporary side effects including mild redness, bruising, numbness, soreness/tenderness, tingling and itching. You should be able to continue your normal routine shortly after your CoolSculpting procedure is complete. Many patients choose to have their CoolSculpting treatments performed during their lunch break and then get back to work right after.

CoolSculpting Results

CoolSculpting can help you lose up to 25 percent of stubborn fat in the treated area. You should notice your body change over time as fat cells are gradually eliminated through the cryolipolysis process.

With a customized series of treatments, you could lose up to a few inches off your waistline and feel more confident and comfortable in all your clothes.

Once the fat cells are eliminated, they will not come back. However, it is possible for new cells to grow and surrounding fat cells to increase in size. That is why it is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle so that you may continue to enjoy long-lasting results.

CoolSculpting FAQs

How much does CoolSculpting cost?

The price of CoolSculpting treatments varies based on a variety of different factors, including the experience of your provider, your geographical location and what areas you are treating. According to the CoolSculpting website, the average cost of a CoolSculpting treatment plan ranges between $2,000-$4,000.

How do I find the best provider for CoolSculpting near me?

When choosing a provider for your CoolSculpting treatment, it is a good idea to ask about previous experience. How many of these treatments have they performed? Can you see before and after photos of other clients so you can see what potential results you can expect? Be sure to go with a provider you feel comfortable talking to about your concerns and expectations. Before your consultation, write down any questions you may have and be sure to address them with your provider.

Will CoolSculpting hurt?

CoolSculpting is a noninvasive procedure that does not require any anesthesia. The special device provides a cooling action to minimize any pain or discomfort. You may experience a slight cooling sensation or tingling during treatment.

How long is CoolSculpting recovery?

Because CoolSculpting is a noninvasive procedure, there is no downtime. You can return to normal activities immediately after you complete your treatment.

When will I see results?

While you may notice some slight changes to your appearance immediately after treatment, the full effects of your CoolSculpting treatment can take up to 90 days. This gives your body’s lymph system time to flush out the dead fat cells completely, revealing your final results.

Am I a candidate for CoolSculpting?

Coolsculpting is a safe procedure designed to treat areas of stubborn fat. If you have recently lost weight or have areas of fat that don’t respond to diet or exercise, CoolSculpting may be ideal for you. The ideal candidate will be close to their ideal weight and in good general health. CoolSculpting is not recommended for people with cryoglobulinemia, cold agglutinin disease or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria.

Will I need multiple CoolSculpting treatments?

During a single treatment, you may see a fat reduction of as much as 20 to 25 percent in a treated area. However, everyone responds differently, and additional treatments may be necessary to reach your desired goal.

Will CoolSculpting address my “Love Handles?”

Coolsculpting was designed to target stubborn areas of fat that don’t typically respond well to diet and exercise. Your love handles are one of those areas and they typically respond well to CoolSculpting treatments. Other areas often targeted by CoolSculpting include double chins, back fat and that stubborn fat around your bra area.

What happens to my fat cells after a CoolSculpting procedure?

CoolSculpting uses cryolipolysis to essentially freeze your fat cells. When the fat cells are frozen, they die. Dead fat cells are naturally eliminated by the body’s lymphatic system.

Can I gain weight after CoolSculpting?

Coolsculpting is not a weight loss solution and, while it does freeze fat cells, it does not prevent you from gaining weight after treatment. Following a healthy diet and regular exercise program will help you maintain your results.
