skincare tips

It’s officially wintertime, which means dry skin, chapped lips, and a whole lot of other fun. But never fear! We all know that cold weather can be harsh on our precious skin. But with a few simple tips, you can keep your skin looking and feeling its best during winter. We’ve got all the tips and tricks you need to make sure your skin stays healthy and happy all season long. Keep reading for our top tips on how to take care of your skin in winter.

#1 Face Masks

Skip the bubble baths and long showers in favor of a nice face mask this winter! Not only will your skin thank you, but it’ll also be much more moisturized due to the longer time frame to soak in all the benefits of the masks. Try putting on a thicker mask before bedtime and letting it soak in overnight, or apply the mask right after you come home from work and let it sit for an hour before rinsing off. If DIY isn’t your thing, consider heading to a spa to try out one of their special winter face masks.

#2 Scrub Away

Scrubs will help remove dead skin cells that make your skin look dull and lifeless. A good scrub will also help exfoliate your skin, which means it’ll be able to better absorb the moisturizer you’re applying afterward, leaving you with more hydrated skin!

#3 Stay Hydrated

This one might seem self-explanatory, but drinking enough water is essential for healthy looking skin. Your body needs water in order to stay hydrated from the inside out, and if you’re not getting enough water, your skin will pay the price. Make sure you drink at least six glasses of water a day (remember that caffeinated drinks don’t count)!

#4  Wear Sunscreen

Your mom might have told you to wear sunscreen every day, but it turns out, she was right! It’s not just during the summer that you need to wear SPF. Sunscreen is important year-round,  and not only does it protect your skin from sun damage, but will also protect it from harsh winds and bright winter sunlight. Make sure you always wear sunscreen when you’re going to be outside for more than 15 minutes.

#5 Moisturize Like There’s No Tomorrow

Your skin is losing more moisture during the winter, which means it needs all the help it can get! Make sure you moisturize twice a day – once after waking up and once before bed – in order to keep your skin feeling supple and hydrated. It’s also important to find a moisturizer that works for you. If you have dry skin, look for a cream-based moisturizer. If you’re on the oily side, try looking for lotions instead (and if your skin is normal or combination, either moisturizer is fine).

Winter is a time when skin can be more sensitive and dry. For some people, this means they have to use products that are richer in texture or heavier in moisture content than they would during the summer months. But for others, wintertime skincare doesn’t require much of anything special at all! The key thing is understanding your own personal needs and how it varies from season to season. Whether you need help with dry patches or breakouts, we have all the tips and tricks for a flawless complexion this holiday season.
