double chin treatment

You might be feeling like you’ll never be able to get rid of your double chin. It’s that old friend who won’t leave you alone, no matter how much weight you lose or how many exercise classes you take. The double chin is one of the most common signs of aging. So if you are tired of seeing it every day in the mirror, here are two different ways to get rid of it. If you’re tired of looking in the mirror and seeing a double chin, you may want to explore some cosmetic procedures. Kybella and chin augmentations are both used to reduce the appearance of a double chin. While both procedures are designed to reduce the size of your chin, they have different effects on other parts of your face.

Kybella

Kybella is a new, FDA-approved procedure where it is injected into the targeted area and destroys your fat cells. This is done by destroying fat cells with deoxycholic acid (made from naturally occurring substances in the body). Kybella was first approved for use as an injectable treatment for adult patients with moderate to severe fat below their chin. Kybella is unique because once the fat cells are destroyed they will not be able to come back because they are destroyed permanently. Keep in mind that it is still possible to regain fat in the area, so keeping up a good diet and exercise regime is vital to maintaining results. Kybella is a new procedure that can be used to treat people who have a double chin, but do not want to go under the knife. Kybella treatment only requires a few injections of the drug, so you will not need to spend an excessive amount of time at your doctor’s office. It requires almost no downtime and you see results in a couple of weeks after the procedure. Kybella does seem to be a great way to get rid of your double chin, but Kybella is also fairly expensive and it can take up to a year for these injections to permanently destroy the fat cells.

Chin Augmentation

A chin augmentation is usually used to change the structure of your chin. Though it does not remove fat, it can drastically change the appearance of your double chin. The chin is made up of three bones, and people usually get a chin augmentation to make their jaw look more defined.  Chin augmentation surgery is a great option if Kybella isn’t the right treatment for you. The procedure usually takes around an hour and there is minimal to no downtime after the surgery. Chin augmentation can be pretty expensive, but it will last much longer than Kybella injections. Kybella only destroys fat cells but does not change the actual bone structure of your chin. A chin augmentation does have more risks because it is a surgery, but is the best option if you want to make a bigger change to the shape of your face.

A double chin can be an eye-sore when you look in the mirror, but it can easily be fixed with either Kybella or chin augmentation. The right procedure for you will be determined by your preference and your doctor’s recommendation.
