While excited for their Mommy Makeover, many women find the idea of their recovery period somewhat disconcerting. Caring and taking time for yourself can present a challenge. As a mother, your family depends on you. Not only demanding time, children also need your attention and help to get through their day. How then, as a mother, is a restful recovery possible?
Understand the Importance of Your Recovery
Be smart about your recovery. A restful recovery is one of the most important ways to ensure optimal healing. More than healing alone, an adequate recovery period is crucial to the success of your Mommy Makeover and greatly contributes beautiful, long-lasting results. Prepare to allow yourself plenty of downtime and know that as your body heals, it will require far more rest than you are used to.
Plan Ahead to Make Your Recovery Easier
The length of your recovery depends on what procedures were performed during your Mommy Makeover. On average, we recommend that patients set aside at least six weeks for their recovery and healing period.
To help put your mind at ease, we suggest that you complete as many household chores and run as many errands as possible before you go in for your Mommy Makeover. Make sure to stock the pantry and have easy, ready to make meals in the refrigerator. For mothers with young children, it is important that you make arrangements with family, friends, or a nanny. For many of our patients, coming home to a clean and organized house helps them to fully relax.
Let Others Take Care of You
As a mother, you are likely used to taking care of everyone. While nice in sentiment, you may find that it is difficult to stay still and let others take care of you. You will likely find yourself thinking, If I don’t do it, it won’t get done. As hard as it may be, resist your maternal urge. Overexertion can hinder your recovery in fact, trying to do things too soon can actually prolong your recovery period. As hard as might be, trust your loved ones they really do have your best interest at heart.
