With a fall as moderate as California’s, you’re bound to want to spend at least a little time by the pool or on the beach straight up until Halloween.
While breast augmentation may have helped you gain some body confidence and feel comfortable donning bikinis and beachwear, how long should you wait before swimming or tanning?
It goes without saying that swimming and tanning aren’t wise immediately after breast augmentation, but by following Dr. Kolder’s advice, you needn’t be out of the water for too long.
Swimming after Breast Augmentation
Assuming you’ve been following the post-surgical instructions Dr. Kolder has provided, you should be okay to swim around 6 weeks after breast augmentation. This estimate changes depending on other factors, like if you combined breast augmentation with additional procedures.
It’s usually best practice to make sure you dry your swimsuit and your top half thoroughly when you get out of the water, to avoid your breasts being damp for too long.
If you’re not ready for swimming or tanning after breast augmentation, you can still enjoy relaxing in the shade with adequate sun protection.
Tanning after Breast Augmentation
When you’re on the beach or by the pool, the easiest way to dry off after a swim is to lie in the sun and tan a little, right? While this may be true, you shouldn’t be tanning too early on in breast augmentation recovery.
It can take up to a year for your scars to be ready for sun exposure and until they are, you should keep them covered and use sunblock. As a guide, once your breast augmentation scars are flat and pale, you should be okay to tan, but it’s always best to consult with Dr. Kolder if you have any concerns.
