Robert S. Improta, M.D., F.A.C.S., is a graduate of Colgate University and Downstate Medical Center in New York. Certified by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery, he is also a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Improta’s background includes a surgical internship at Washington University in St. Louis, training in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and a residency in general surgery at Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Los Angeles.
Dr. Improta completed his Plastic Surgery Residency at Cornell Medical Center and New York Hospital. His training there included surgery of the hand; head and neck cancer surgery; reconstructive microsurgery, and cosmetic surgery. In addition, Dr. Improta served as both Chief Resident and Assistant Clinical Professor in Plastic Surgery. For his research in reconstructive surgery, Dr. Improta received the Senior Resident Award.
