Sleep is essential to the healing process, helping wounds close faster and tissues regenerate. However, after breast augmentation, sleeping isn’t always the easiest thing to do. Just the fact that you’ve had surgery means you might feel uncomfortable, and on top of this, if you are a stomach or side sleeper, you’ll likely need to avoid your favorite sleep positions.
Still, sleeping after breast implants is not impossible. Here are a few ideas you can use to make it easier to sleep.
It might be a little tricky but sleeping after breast implants is essential to your healing process.
Move During the Day
It might sound strange, but being physically active during the day can make it easier to sleep at night. Take time during your recovery to go on walks to get your excess energy out without risking injury to your surgical site.
Eliminate Stress Where Possible
Listen, we know: life is stressful. And after surgery, it usually is even more so. Now is a great time to eliminate those additional sources of stress. Easier said than done, but do make the effort as it can have a significant impact on your sleep and your well being as a whole.
Practice New Sleep Positions before Surgery
The ideal sleep position after getting breast implants is on your back with the upper body somewhat elevated. Use a wedge pillow or sleep in a recliner. The next best option is flat on your back. Avoid stomach and side sleeping until you are healed. Need some more guidance on the recovery period? We are here to help!
